✦ Good Friday
Morning
A Good Friday Prayer
Lord Jesus, today we stand at the foot of the cross, and we hardly know what to say.
You were wounded for our transgressions. You were bruised for our iniquities. The weight we could not carry, You carried. The debt we could not pay, You paid.
Forgive us for how quickly we forget the cost. Today, let us not rush past this. Let us stay here a while — in the silence, in the sorrow, in the love that held You there when nails never could.
Thank You that You did not come down, though You had all power to. Thank You for the words that still astonish us: Father, forgive them. Speak those words over us again today.
And even in this darkness, Lord, we hold on to what You promised. The story does not end on Friday. Teach us to wait through the world's long Saturdays with our eyes on Sunday.
In Your holy name, Amen.

Evening
An Evening Prayer to Close the Day
Father, the day is done, and I bring it to You — all of it.
Thank You for carrying me through it. For the mercies I noticed, and the many I didn't: the meals, the safe travel, the words that came when I needed them, the trouble that never arrived.
Where I did well today, it was Your grace. Thank You. Where I failed — and You and I both know where — forgive me. The sharp word, the shortcut, the kindness I skipped because I was busy or tired or just didn't want to. Wash it clean. Let me start tomorrow unburdened.
If I hurt anyone today, mend what I can't see, and give me the humility to make it right tomorrow. If anyone hurt me, help me set it down tonight. I don't want to carry it to bed.
Now quiet my mind, Lord. The day's leftover noise is still ringing in my ears — conversations, worries, the list of things undone. The undone things will keep. You never sleep, so I can.
Watch over my home tonight and everyone in it. Watch over the ones I love who are far away. Be near to those who have to work while the rest of us rest, and to anyone for whom tonight is long and hard.
Into Your hands I place this day, finished, and tomorrow, still unopened. I trust You with both of them. Give me rest tonight — and if You wake me in the morning, I'll thank You then too.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
