Prayer of the Day

God of all nations, we bring our country before You.

We love this land — its people, its places, the generations who worked and sacrificed so that we could stand here today. And because we love it, we pray for it.

Have mercy on us, Lord. We are one people, but we do not always act like it. Where we have learned to fear our neighbors, teach us again to see them — not as labels, but as people You made.

Heal what is divided in us. Not by making us all the same, but by making us kind. Give us the humility to admit we might be wrong, and the patience to hear one another out.

Bless every home in this nation tonight — the farms and the cities, the small towns and the crowded streets, the families in plenty and the families in need. Comfort those who are grieving. Provide for those who are struggling. Protect those who are vulnerable. Bless the teachers and the farmers, the builders and the nurses, and every quiet life of honest work.

Give wisdom to all who govern, whoever they are and wherever they serve — in every office, every courthouse, every council. Give them honest hearts and a love for the people.

And begin with us, Lord. Make us good neighbors. Make us quick to serve and slow to condemn. Make us people who pray for our country more than we complain about it.

May righteousness, mercy, and peace run through this land like a river.

Lord, be with me tonight.

The day took more than I expected, and I'm coming to You with what's left of me — which isn't much. You've never asked for more than that.

Whatever tonight holds — quiet or chaos, a full house or an empty one — be in it with me.

Guard my home while the lights go out. Guard the people I love, near and far, under whatever roof they're sleeping tonight.

Take tonight's worries — the ones about tomorrow, the ones about money, the ones about people — and hold them until morning. If they still matter then, we'll talk. Most of them won't.

Give me peace tonight, Lord. Not because everything is settled, but because You are here, and You are good, and You'll still be both when the sun comes up.
