A Prayer of Gratitude in Hard Seasons
Lord, I will be honest with You: thank You does not come easily today. This season is hard, and I am tired, and gratitude feels like a language I have half forgotten.
So I will start small. Thank You that I woke up this morning. Thank You for the people who have not left my side. Thank You for the meals I did not miss, the roof over my head tonight, and the strength — just enough — for one more day.
Thank You that You do not ask me to pretend. You know this is heavy. You have not looked away. Even here, You have been near, and nearness is no small gift.
I cannot yet thank You for the storm, but I can thank You in it. Keep my heart soft while I wait for morning, and let this thin thread of thanks hold me to You until it grows strong again.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this when gratitude feels out of reach — during illness, loss, worry, or a long stretch of bad news. You do not have to feel thankful first; praying it is how the feeling often begins.
A Verse to Hold On To
"Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines... yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation." — Habakkuk 3:17–18 (KJV)
