A Wedding Ceremony Blessing Prayer

Gracious God, we gather in Your presence to witness something You invented: two people leaving what was and beginning what will be.

Bless the vows about to be spoken here. They are large promises made by ordinary people, so supply what the promises will cost — faithfulness for the years, patience for the days, and grace for the moments in between.

Bless the rings they will wear, small circles with no ending, reminders on working hands of the covenant made in this room.

Bless the families and friends gathered here, everyone who taught these two how to love and everyone who will help them keep loving.

And bless the marriage that starts today. What You are joining together, let no distance, no hardship, and no passing of years ever put asunder.
