A Birthday Prayer for a Milestone Year
Lord, this is one of the big ones — a birthday with a zero on it, or a milestone all its own. The kind of number that made me stop when I wrote it down.
Thank You for every year inside that number. Stack them up, Lord — the weddings and the funerals, the jobs won and lost, the houses, the babies, the prayers You answered and the ones You mercifully didn't. That's not just a number. That's a life. Your gift.
I confess a milestone can feel heavy. The mirror says one thing, the heart says another, and the world keeps whispering about time running out. But You do not count the way the world counts. Moses was eighty when his real work began.
So bless this new decade before it starts. Whatever You have saved for these years — new purpose, new people, a slower sweetness I couldn't taste when I was rushing — let me meet it with open hands.
The best chapter is the one You're still writing. I believe that, Lord. Help me live like it.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this on the morning of any birthday that ends in a zero — or 18, 21, 65, or whichever number stopped you in your tracks this year. It's also a lovely prayer to read aloud at a milestone birthday dinner, right before the toast.
A Verse to Hold On To
"They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing." — Psalm 92:14 (KJV)
