A Prayer for Missionaries
Father, we pray for the missionaries You have sent out — the ones we know by name, and the many serving quietly in places we will never visit.
Protect them, Lord. Keep them safe on unfamiliar roads, healthy in unfamiliar climates, and steady in places where faith costs something.
Provide for them. When support runs thin, supply what they need. When paperwork stalls and doors close, open the ones You want open.
Encourage them. Missionary work can be lonely — far from family, far from home, fruit that is slow to show. On the hard days, send them a letter, a friend, a small sign that You see them.
Bless the people they serve. Give the missionaries love for the language, patience for the culture, and humility to learn before they teach. Let the good news land gently and take root deeply.
And Lord, keep our own hearts open — to give, to go, to pray, and never to forget them.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this when a missionary newsletter arrives, when your church takes a missions offering, or on a set day each week. Praying for missionaries by name — even one name — turns a distant cause into a friendship.
A Verse to Hold On To
"Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me." — Isaiah 6:8 (KJV)
