A Prayer for My Daughter's Confidence and Faith

Father, I'm praying for my daughter's confidence — not the loud kind that performs, but the quiet kind that lasts: the settled knowledge that she is Yours, made on purpose, loved on purpose.

She lives in a world of mirrors and scoreboards, Lord. Every day something measures her — her face, her grades, her follower count, her worst moment caught at the wrong angle. Drown all of that out with a truer voice. Let her hear You say what You said at her making: that she is fearfully and wonderfully made.

When she compares herself and comes up short, remind her the measuring stick was broken to begin with. When she fails at something — and she will, we all do — teach her that failing is a chapter, never the title. Give her the courage to try things she might be bad at, which is where all the good stories start.

And beneath the confidence, Lord, build the faith. Confidence in herself will have bad days. Confidence in You doesn't have to. Make her faith her own — asked about, wrestled with, chosen in the daylight of her own free heart.

Let her walk into every room knowing whose she is. That's the whole prayer, really.

Pray this in the middle-school years, the college years, or any season when you watch her shrink to fit someone else's opinion. Pray it, then tell her one true thing you see in her.
