A Prayer for Protection

Lord, I come to You for protection. You see what I cannot see. You are awake when I am sleeping, and near when I forget to look for You.

Guard my body from harm and my mind from fear. Watch over the ones I love while we are apart. Keep Your hand on the doors I walk through today, the roads I travel, and the people I meet.

When trouble comes close, be closer still. When danger passes by, let it keep passing. When I am afraid, remind me whose hands hold me.

I cannot guard every moment, Lord, and I was never meant to. That work is Yours, and You do not grow tired. So I set down my worry like a heavy bag at Your feet.

Hide me under the shadow of Your wings. Be my strong tower, my shield, my safe place, from this hour until I see You face to face.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this in the morning before you step out the door, or any moment the news, a phone call, or a worry makes the world feel unsafe. It is short enough to pray again at night, word for word, until the fear loosens its grip.

A Verse to Hold On To

"For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways." — Psalm 91:11 (KJV)
