A Prayer of Protection for My Family

Father, I bring my family to You by name, the ones under my roof and the ones far away. You knew them before I did. You love them more than I know how.

Watch over my children wherever this day takes them — at school, at work, on the road, among friends I have never met. Guard their bodies from harm and their hearts from anything that would pull them from You.

Protect the ones I cannot call often enough, the ones I worry about at odd hours, the ones who do not know I pray for them. Where I cannot go, Lord, You are already there.

Keep our home a safe place. Keep our love for each other stronger than our tempers. And when I lie awake counting my fears for them, remind me that You never sleep, so I can.

Pray this when the house goes quiet at night, or whenever a loved one is on your mind and out of your reach. Many families pray it together before someone leaves on a trip or starts something new.
