A Prayer for Protection at Night

Father, the day is done and the house is dark. Before I sleep, I put us in Your keeping.

Stand watch at our doors tonight. Guard everyone sleeping under this roof, and the ones I love sleeping under other roofs.

Quiet the noises that startle me and the thoughts that circle back when the lights go out. You stay awake, Lord, so that I don't have to.

Give us rest tonight and mercy in the morning.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this as you turn off the last light, or lying in bed when the day's worries try to follow you there. Parents often pray it at a child's door on the way to their own room.
