A Prayer for My Children

Father, I place my children in Your hands — the safest place they could ever be.

Protect them today, body and heart. Go with them where I cannot follow: into classrooms and friendships, into choices I will never see.

Shape their character slowly and surely. Make them kind, honest, and brave, quick to say sorry and quick to forgive.

And more than anything, Lord, let them know You — really know You — and walk with You all their days, long after my hand has let go of theirs.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this at the school drop-off, over a sleeping child, or for grown children who live far away. It fits every age, because a parent's prayers never retire.

A Verse to Hold On To

"And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children." — Isaiah 54:13 (KJV)
