A Prayer for My Husband

Father, thank You for my husband. Before I ask anything, let me say that: thank You for him — for who he is, not only for what he does.

You know the weight he carries, the worries he keeps quiet to spare the rest of us. Strengthen him where he is tired. Encourage him where he feels he is falling short. Let him hear, from You and from me, that he is loved as he is.

Give him wisdom for his work and his decisions, good friends who tell him the truth, and rest that actually restores him. Guard his health, his integrity, and his heart.

And Lord, keep us tender toward each other. Help me to see him the way You see him — especially on the days when we are both worn thin. Make me quick to thank him and slow to keep score.

Draw him close to You, closer every year, and let our marriage be a shelter for us both.

Pray this while he sleeps beside you, while he's on his way to work, or anytime he's on your mind and you don't know what he needs. God does.
