A Prayer for Our Marriage

Lord, we bring You our marriage — not just the wedding-day version, but the real one, with its dishes and bills, its inside jokes and its tired evenings. It is ours, and we want it to be Yours.

Keep our love strong. When we are busy, help us find each other again. When we are hurt, make us quick to say so and quicker to forgive. When we are tempted to keep score, remind us we are on the same team.

Give us patience for each other's faults, gratitude for each other's goodness, and eyes that keep noticing — the way we noticed at the very beginning.

Be the third strand in our cord, Lord. Hold us together on the days we cannot hold ourselves, and let this marriage, year by year, look a little more like Your love.

Pray this together before bed, even just once a week — out loud if you can. It is also a good prayer to return to alone whenever your marriage feels more like logistics than love.
