A Prayer for Someone Who Is Grieving

God of all comfort, my friend is walking through a sorrow I cannot take from them, no matter how much I wish I could.

So I bring them to You. Be close to them today — in the sleepless nights, the quiet house, the moments when the loss hits fresh. Comfort them in ways no person can.

And show me how to love them well: when to speak, when to simply sit near, when to bring the meal or make the call. Let my presence carry some of Your kindness, and give me patience to stay long after the flowers and casseroles stop coming.

Amen.
