A Prayer of Thanks When Eating Alone

Lord, it's just the two of us at this table tonight. Thank You for this food, made and set for one, and for Your company, which makes it two.

Some meals alone are peaceful, and some are lonely. You know which kind this one is. Either way, You are here, and I am grateful.

Bless this quiet meal. And bless everyone else eating alone right now — let each of us remember we are seen.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this over any solo meal — a quick lunch at your desk, dinner after everyone's moved out, the first meals of a new season of living alone. Saying grace out loud when no one else is there isn't strange; it's a small way of setting a second place for God.

A Verse to Hold On To

"And, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world." — Matthew 28:20 (KJV)
