A Prayer for Selling Our House
Lord, there is a sign in the yard now, and every time I see it my stomach tightens a little. So I am bringing the whole thing to You — the listing, the waiting, and the wondering.
You know why we are selling. You know the plans behind it, the numbers behind it, and the timeline we are nervous about. None of it is news to You, and none of it is too small for You.
Send the right buyer, Father. Not just any offer — the right one: someone who will walk through these rooms and picture their own life here, someone this house will be good to, the way it has been good to us.
Give favor to the practical things — the showings and the open houses, the photographs and the paperwork, the inspection we're quietly dreading. Give wisdom to our agent and honesty to everyone on both sides of the table.
And Lord, work on us while we wait. When the house has to stay spotless for weeks, give us patience. When someone lowballs us, keep us gracious. When another week passes without a call, guard us from panic — a slow market is not Your absence.
We are not demanding a date, Father. We are asking for Your timing, and trusting it, even if it is not ours. You have moved us before and never dropped us.
Thank You for every year under this roof — the birthdays, the repairs, the marks on the door frame. Help us hand it on with open hands, and walk toward what's next without looking back in fear.
The sale is Yours. The timing is Yours. We are Yours. That is enough.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this the day the house is listed, before each showing, or in the discouraging weeks when nothing seems to move. Praying it together as a household helps everyone hold the waiting — and the house — with open hands.
A Verse to Hold On To
"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." — Proverbs 3:5–6 (KJV)
