A New Year's Eve Prayer of Reflection

Father, the year is almost over, and before it slips away, I want to sit with You for a moment.

Thank You for every day of it — the ones I would gladly live again, and the ones I was glad to see end. You were in all of them, even when I couldn't feel it.

Teach me to number my days, Lord, so I don't just turn a page tonight but actually grow wiser. Show me what this year was trying to teach me.

For the things I got wrong, I ask Your forgiveness. For the things done to me that still sting, give me grace to release them here, at the border of the year, so I don't carry them across.

And for everything I never got to say thank You for — the near misses, the quiet provisions, the kindness of people You sent at the right moment — receive my thanks now, all at once.

As the clock runs out, I trust You with what's coming. The One who was faithful this year is already waiting for me in the next.

Pray this on December 31st — in the quiet before the party, or at the table with family, or alone as midnight approaches. It pairs well with a few minutes of looking back through the year's photos or journal.
