A Prayer for Inner Peace
Lord, there is a storm in me that no one else can see. Outside I look fine. Inside, the waters won't be still. So I come to You, the One who speaks peace to storms.
Quiet the thoughts that talk over each other. Slow my racing heart to the pace of Your presence. Untangle the knot in my chest that I have been carrying like it was mine to carry.
You do not hurry, Lord, and You are never anxious. Teach my soul Your unhurried way. Let Your peace — the kind the world cannot give and the world cannot take — stand guard over my heart and mind.
I will not find stillness by searching for stillness. I will find it by staying near You. So here I am, staying.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this when you feel churned up and can't say exactly why, or when your mind won't stop rehearsing and rehashing. If anxiety has been heavy for weeks, keep praying — and know that talking to a doctor or counselor is a gift from God, not a lack of faith.
A Verse to Hold On To
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." — John 14:27 (KJV)
