A Prayer for a New Baby

Father, look at what You have done. Ten small fingers, ten small toes, and a whole life folded up inside them.

Thank You for this baby. Bless every feeding and every nap, every weigh-in and every checkup. Let this child grow strong and well.

Bless the tired parents too. Multiply their short nights into enough rest, and their new love into patience that lasts.

Watch over this little one all the days ahead — days we cannot see, but You already do. Let this child grow up knowing two things for certain: that home is safe, and that God is good.

When to Pray This

Pray this over a newborn in the hospital, at a first meeting with grandparents, or quietly during a 3 a.m. feeding. It also makes a lovely prayer to write inside a card for new parents.
