A Prayer for Remission and Thanksgiving After Treatment

Father, they used the word I was afraid to hope for: remission. I have imagined this moment through every treatment, and now that it's here, I hardly know what to do with it — except to come and say thank You.

Thank You for healing at work in this body. Thank You for the doctors and nurses who never gave up, for the medicine, the machines, the research, for every person who prayed when I was too tired to. None of it was small. I saw You in all of it.

I confess this new season has its own fears. Every follow-up scan, every ache, whispers what if. Teach me to live in remission with open hands — grateful for today, not held hostage by tomorrow. You carried me through the fight; You will not drop me in the healing.

Make me gentler because of what I've been through. Quick to sit with the newly diagnosed, slow to waste ordinary days, loud with gratitude for as long as I live.

This breath, this morning, this life — thank You.

When to Pray This

Pray this after good news — the day treatment ends, the day a scan comes back clear, or on the anniversaries of remission. It's also honest about the quieter fear that follows survivors, so pray it again before follow-up appointments when the what-ifs get loud.
