A Prayer for Healing
Father of mercy, I come to You asking for healing. You made this body. You know it better than I do — every ache I can name, and the ones I cannot explain. Nothing about this illness surprises You, and nothing about it is beyond You.
Lord, where there is sickness, bring health. Where there is pain, bring relief. Where there is weakness, bring strength enough for one more day. I do not need to tell You how. I only need to ask.
Thank You for doctors and nurses, for medicine and rest. Bless the hands that treat me and the minds that plan my care. Help me to follow their counsel with patience, and to see their skill as one of Your kindnesses to me.
Heal my heart as well as my body. Sickness makes me afraid, Lord. It makes the nights long. When worry comes in the dark, remind me that You are nearer than the fear.
I remember that You are the God who heals — not because I have earned it, but because You are good. So I place myself in Your hands, the safest place I know.
If healing comes quickly, I will thank You. If it comes slowly, give me courage to wait without losing hope. If the road is longer than I want it to be, walk every mile of it beside me.
And in every hour between now and then — in waiting rooms and quiet bedrooms, in good reports and hard ones — hold me, keep me, and do not let me go.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this in the morning before appointments, or at night when the house is quiet and worry gets loud. It can be prayed for yourself or read aloud over someone you love — just change "me" to their name.
A Verse to Hold On To
