A Healing Prayer for a Friend

Lord, I bring my friend to You by name, the way friends once carried a man to Jesus because he could not get there on his own. I cannot heal them. But I know the One who can.

You see them right now — the tiredness, the pain, the brave face they put on for the rest of us. Be gentle with them today, Father. Let them feel less alone than they did an hour ago.

Bless the doctors and nurses caring for them. Give wisdom for every decision, skill to every hand, and kindness to every voice they hear.

Heal them, Lord, in Your mercy — body, mind, and spirit. And until that healing is complete, give them rest at night, courage in the morning, and the quiet certainty that they are loved.

Show me how to be a good friend in this season: when to call, when to cook, when to sit quietly, and when to simply keep praying.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this when someone you care about is ill and you feel helpless. It also works well sent in a card or text — sometimes the kindest thing you can say is "I prayed this for you today."

A Verse to Hold On To

"The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness." — Psalm 41:3 (KJV)
