A Christmas Morning Prayer for Family

Father, it's Christmas morning. Before the paper flies and the coffee is poured, we stop — all of us together — to say thank You.

Thank You for this family, just as we are: the early risers and the sleepy ones, the little ones who couldn't wait and the grown ones who remember when they couldn't.

Thank You for every gift under this tree, and thank You more for the Gift none of us could wrap — Jesus, born for us, given to us, love come down.

Bless this whole day, Lord. Bless the laughter and the leftovers, the phone calls to far-away family, the quiet moments in between. Keep our words kind and our patience long, and if the day gets loud or messy — and it will — let there be grace in this house.

Glory to You in the highest, and peace in this home today.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Gather everyone for one minute on Christmas morning — before the presents, while the excitement is at its peak. A parent or grandparent can read it, or pass it to the youngest reader in the family.

A Verse to Hold On To

"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." — Luke 2:14 (KJV)
