A Prayer for a Peaceful Passing

Lord of mercy, as the end of this life draws near, let it come gently.

Quiet every pain, calm every fear, and fill the last hours with peace — Your peace, which the world cannot give and death cannot take away.

Let the one we love slip from our keeping into Yours, the way a tired child falls asleep, safe, and held, and home.

We do not know the hour, Lord. You do. That is enough.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this when death is near and what you long for most is gentleness — for them and for everyone in the room. It is short on purpose, so it can be prayed over and over through the final hours, like a hand kept steady on theirs.
