A Prayer for Grandchildren Far Away

Lord, my grandchildren are far away, and today the miles feel especially long. I miss the sound of them in the house. I miss being the one who answers the door.

But You are not far from them. You never are. So be near them for me today. Sit with them at breakfast, walk with them to school, and watch over them through every hour I don't get to see.

Keep our love strong across the distance. Bless the video calls and the birthday cards, the visits we count down to, and the goodbyes that are always too soon. Don't let the miles make us strangers, Lord — let these children always know there is a grandparent far away who prays for them by name.

And thank You that no distance on any map can put them outside Your reach, or outside my prayers.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this after a video call ends and the house goes quiet again, or when you mail a card and wish you could deliver it yourself. Praying for grandchildren by name is a way of being present when you cannot be there.

A Verse to Hold On To

"The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore." — Psalm 121:8 (KJV)
