A Prayer for When Everything Goes Wrong at Once

Lord, it is not just one thing. It is everything at once. The car and the bill and the diagnosis and the argument — troubles are arriving faster than I can answer the door. I cannot triage this alone anymore, so here it all is.

First, help me breathe. Before plans, before phone calls, before anything: You are God, and I am not, and the world will keep turning while I stand still for one minute in Your presence.

Then help me sort the pile. Show me what actually needs me today, what can wait until tomorrow, and what was never mine to carry in the first place. Give me one next step, Lord. Just one. I can do one.

Send help, and give me the sense to accept it — the friend, the neighbor, the professional who knows what to do. Pride is a luxury for easier weeks.

And somewhere under all this rubble, protect my hope. Piled-up troubles feel permanent, but they are not. Storms pass. They always have. Keep me standing until this one does, and let me find, when it clears, that You were holding more of it than I ever knew.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this on the days when the bad news comes in threes and fours and you don't know where to start. Praying it out loud, slowly, can be the one minute of stillness that gets you through the rest.

A Verse to Hold On To

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." — Psalm 46:1 (KJV)
