A Prayer for Leaders and Those in Authority

Father, Your Word tells us to pray for all who are in authority — so we do, gladly and without exception.

We pray for leaders everywhere: in government and in business, in schools and in churches, in every office where decisions shape other people's lives.

Give them wisdom beyond their own. Give them integrity when no one is watching, humility when everyone is, and courage to do what is right even when it costs them.

Guard them from the temptations that come with power, and surround them with honest counsel.

And through their service, Lord, let Your people live quiet and peaceable lives.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this for leaders at every level — national, local, workplace, church — including the ones you didn't choose and don't agree with. Scripture doesn't ask us to approve of our leaders, only to pray for them.
