A Prayer for the World

Creator of heaven and earth, the whole world is Yours — every ocean, every mountain, every language, every child.

So we pray big prayers today.

Where there is war, bring peace. Where there is hunger, bring bread. Where there is disaster, bring rescue and rebuilding. Where there is sickness, bring healing hands and the skill of doctors and nurses.

We pray for people we will never meet — the refugee packing a life into one bag, the mother in a far country praying over her child the same way we pray over ours, the worker, the farmer, the fisherman, the ones the news forgot. You know every face. You count every tear.

Give wisdom to those who lead the nations, and courage to the peacemakers. Bless everyone who feeds the hungry, shelters the homeless, and binds up wounds.

And enlarge our hearts, Lord — too big for our own borders, tender toward the whole world You so loved.

Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this when world events feel overwhelming and you don't know where to start. You can't carry the whole world — but you can hand it to the One who already does.

A Verse to Hold On To

"God be merciful unto us, and bless us... That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations." — Psalm 67:1–2 (KJV)
