A Prayer for My Parents
Father, thank You for my parents. Before I could walk, someone carried me. Before I knew Your name, someone was already praying mine. So much of what I call my life began as their sacrifice.
Bless my mother and my father today. Give them health in their bodies and rest in their minds. Repay the years they spent on me — the meals, the late nights, the worry they never mentioned — with joy they do not have to earn.
Where I have hurt them, help me make it right. Where they have hurt me, help me forgive. Keep our love bigger than our differences, and keep the phone calls coming, in both directions.
Watch over them when I cannot. Be near them in the quiet of their house, and let them feel how deeply they are loved — by me, and even more by You.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this whenever your parents cross your mind — after a phone call, on the drive home from a visit, or on an ordinary Tuesday when you simply miss them. It is also a good prayer to pray before a family gathering.
A Verse to Hold On To
