A Prayer for Peace of Mind
Father, my mind will not sit still. It keeps walking the same worried circle — the what-ifs, the maybes, the conversations I have already had three times in my head.
You said You would keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on You. So I am turning my mind toward You now, the way a plant turns toward the light.
Take the worries I can do something about and show me the one next step. Take the worries I can do nothing about and hold them Yourself, out of my reach.
When the circling starts again — and it will — be patient with me, Lord. Meet me in the middle of the loop and walk me quietly out of it.
Tonight, let me put my head down like a child who knows someone strong is in the house.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this when worry has taken over the driver's seat — before a diagnosis comes back, while a bill sits unpaid, whenever your thoughts spiral at bedtime. If the worry never lets up, praying and seeking a counselor's help belong together.
A Verse to Hold On To
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." — Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)
