A Prayer for My Wife's Health

Father, I bring You my wife and her health. I would trade places with her if I could — You know I would. Since I can't, I'm giving her to You, the One who made her and loves her best.

Touch her body, Lord. Ease the pain, calm what is inflamed, strengthen what has grown weak. Where healing can come, let it come — through rest, through medicine, through the skilled hands of doctors and nurses. Bless every one of them who cares for her. Give them wisdom, and give her good news.

Guard her spirit while her body mends. You know how she worries more about us than about herself. Let her receive care as gladly as she gives it — she has earned that a thousand times over.

And be with me, too. Watching someone you love hurt is its own kind of ache. Give me steady hands, a hopeful face, and faith enough for the both of us on the hard days.

She is Yours, Lord. She always has been. Hold her gently.
