A Prayer for Fear of the Future
Father, I keep living in a day that hasn't come yet. I walk through next month's troubles before breakfast. I grieve losses that may never happen. And all the while, today — the only day You've given me — goes unlived.
Forgive me for trusting my forecasts more than Your faithfulness.
I cannot see the future, Lord. But You are already there. Whatever is coming — the diagnosis or the all-clear, the yes or the no, the door that opens or the one that closes — You will be in it before I arrive, the same God who has carried me this far.
So I hand You my calendar of imagined disasters. Teach me the old, hard lesson: that tomorrow will worry about itself, and today's bread is given one day at a time.
When fear of what's ahead creeps back in, let me answer it with what I know for certain: You have never once let go of me. You will not start tomorrow.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this when you catch yourself living in next week's worst-case scenario — before big decisions, during uncertain seasons, or any night the what-ifs keep you awake.
