A Prayer for Worry About Loved Ones

Father, the people I love are walking around outside my reach, and it undoes me. I would wrap them in safety if I could. I can't. So I bring them to the One who can watch what I cannot even see.

You know who I mean, Lord. The child I still pray over, whatever their age. The parent who is getting older. The friend who is struggling and won't say how much. Every name my heart just spoke — You heard it.

Watch over them today. On the roads, at work, at school, in the choices they make when no one is looking. Guard their bodies, steady their minds, and stay near their souls.

And Father, work on me too. My worrying has never once kept them safe — that has been You, all along. When I reach for my phone to check on them again, let me reach for You first.

I cannot be everywhere they are. You already are. That is where I will rest tonight.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this when someone you love is late, far away, struggling, or simply out of sight and on your mind. It's a good prayer for parents at bedtime and for anyone loving someone from a distance.

A Verse to Hold On To
