A Prayer to Calm an Anxious Mind
Lord, my thoughts are moving faster than I can pray. So I will start small.
Be here. That's the first thing. Just be here with me.
Now, slowly — one breath at a time — quiet this mind You made. Catch each racing thought like a bird and set it down somewhere safe. The rehearsed conversations. The imagined disasters. The list of everything I might be forgetting. One by one, Lord. You are not in a hurry.
You promise perfect peace to the mind that is stayed on You. So I am staying mine on You now — not on the noise, not on the what-ifs, on You.
You are good. You are near. You are not worried. Let my mind settle into Yours like water going still after wind.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this slowly, matching the lines to your breathing — it's built for racing-thought moments at your desk or at 2 a.m. Repeating the final stanza a few times helps most people more than reading it once.
A Verse to Hold On To
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." — Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)
