A Prayer for an Exhausted Caregiver
Lord, I am so tired. Not the kind of tired that sleep fixes — the kind that lives in the bones.
I love the one I care for. And I am running on empty. Both of those things are true, and I know You can hold them both.
Carry what I cannot carry tonight. Watch over them while I rest, and do not let guilt follow me to bed.
Tomorrow, send help — a person, an hour, a small relief. And until strength returns, be my strength.
Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this on the nights when you have nothing left — no long prayers, no right words. It is deliberately short, because exhausted people should not have to work hard to reach God. If burnout has settled in, telling your own doctor, a counselor, or a caregiver support group is a faithful next step, not a defeat.
A Verse to Hold On To
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28 (KJV)
